History[]
La Villa de Alburquerque was founded in 1706, it was named by Provincial Governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdez after the Duke of Alburquerque. The city's growth is due to its' location on numerous trade-routes; El Camino Real, the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, Route 66, I-20 and I-40, as well as the Albuquerque International SunPort.
